Experimental research of an automated system for monitoring the presence of harmful and explosive gases based on UAVs
Abstract
The article considers a new automated system for monitoring the presence of harmful and explosive gases based on an unmanned aerial vehicle. It has been established that this system is necessary when preventing possible threats of explosions or gas poisoning, rescue operations, etc. The developed design of the unmanned aerial vehicle is described, which consists of a frame, brushless engines, electronic speed control modules, control board, inertial navigation system and reception and transmission module. The functional scheme of the automated system for monitoring the presence of harmful and explosive gases on the basis of an unmanned aerial vehicle is given. A static experiment of the developed system was carried out, the main idea of which was to study the dependence of the distance of the gas source to the measuring system and to show the gas concentration. Gas sensors MQ-5 and MQ-9 were studied. The results of a static experiment in the open air are also presented, where the dependence of the measured gas concentration on the distance between the gas source and the measuring module is investigated. This experiment demonstrates a correlation between the distance from the gas source and the measured gas concentration level. The results of flight experiments of the developed automated monitoring system are analyzed, which show the correlation between the distance from the gas source and the measured level of gas concentration during automatic flight.
