La comunicación en orden. Partes Urgentes y Academias en la Policía de la provincia de Buenos Aires

Abstract

In this paper we characterize and compare two intra-institutional communication devices used by the Police of the province of Buenos Aires scarcely investigated by the social studies dedicated to the security forces: the “Parte Urgente” (Urgent Report) and the “Academia” (Academy). Through a research carried out in police units of Buenos Aires suburbs, between 2014 and 2020, we reflect on the way in which internal communications are produced, circulated and received in the institution. We displayed a combined research methodology in which we articulated an ethnography of the police driving with the reading of written documentation. This strategy gave us access to these internal communication devices and allowed us to argument that, in addition to their strictly informative purposes, they intervene in the production and reproduction of the corporate power relations that structure the Buenos Aires police.
