The construction of the subjects is influenced by their interaction with the surrounding context. Therefore, the family being the first agent of socialization is fundamental in the cognitive and socio-emotional development of the children. The influence of the family is profound, but as the children grow up other environments become more important and their incorporation into the schooling process transforms the school into another pillar of great importance. This paper theoretically reviews the role of parentality in child development and the influences of parenting styles on creativity. Finally, the relevance of establishing communication and collaboration ties between family and school is exposed, especially in early childhood education, but useful at all educational levels. Family and school are two essential axes that have a direct impact on the development of children.
