Les fonds roumains de la Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire de Strasbourg
Abstract
Since its creation in 1871, the BNU—until 1918 Kaiserliche Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek zu Strassburg—has focused on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The great number of books on Romania in German testifies to the Germans' interest in this culture. After the return of Alsace to France in 1919, the BNU’s documentary policy towards Romania continued, especially with acquisitions of French-language works. Since 1945, notably due to the creation of a Romanian chair at the University of Strasbourg, the library continues to enrich, especially through partnerships in Romania, a fund that currently constitutes a reference in France.
