Abstract
Textbooks have a major role in the acquisition of historical knowledge and the definition of teaching, often in a veiled function. The objective of this paper is to present an analysis procedure that allows users of manuals to have accurate and complete information about the educational intentions and pedagogical principles that underpin it. With this purpose, in the article a set of guidelines and evaluation criteria based on the main curricular and historiographical traditions and a conceptual structure model of the finalities of history teaching are proposed.
