MELANOMA EN CHILE ¿CUÁL ES NUESTRA REALIDAD?

Abstract

Resumen: El objetivo de este artículo es revisar la información nacional disponible en relación a la prevención y diagnóstico precoz del melanoma en Chile. Y luego, discutir las estrategias para revertir la tendencia al aumento de la incidencia de la enfermedad y las estrategias para lograr un diagnóstico en sus etapas iniciales susceptibles de ser tratadas con terapias más efectivas, con menor riesgo de morbilidad y secuelas, y de un significativo menor costo. Abstract: The goal of this article is to review the available national information in relation to the prevention and early diagnosis of melanoma in Chile. And then, discuss strategies to reverse the trend to increase the incidence of the disease and strategies to achieve a diagnosis in its initial stages that can be treated with more effective therapies, with lower risk of morbidity and sequelae, and a significant lower cost.
