La obra filológica de Eduardo de Huidobro: del purismo lingüístico a la lexicografía regional montañesa

Abstract

The objective of this article is, in particular, to delve into the philological work of Eduardo de Huidobro and, in general, to delve into the historiographical study of the materials related to the Spanish spoken in Cantabria. To do this, the linguistic production of the author has been divided into two groups: the works on normative prescription and the lexicographical works that describe the provincial vernacular. The conclusions point to the uneven impact of these two groups and the contradictions that exist between them
