Benedict XVI’ s visit to Lebanon (2012): consistent or inconsistent communicational discourse?
Abstract
The article examines the modes of communication set up during Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Lebanon in September 2012. It tries to show how the local religious institution and the media – which constitute the main arms of the religious communities fighting for power – take over from the discourse papal, more modest and cautious, in order to create an act of presence and defiance to be invested in a context of regional religious radicalisation.
