The ongoing war in Ukraine has precipitated a severe mental health crisis. Current rehabilitation programs, which include cognitive behavioural therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, and pharmacotherapy, are bolstered by initiatives such as the Ukrainian Mental Health Alliance and international collaborations. However, these efforts often fall short of addressing the physiological aspects of trauma. Reflex Integration Therapy (RIT), particularly the Reflex Integration of the Organism (RIO) method, offers a promising complementary approach by targeting neurophysiological dysregulation. This method can enhance emotional stability and improve overall well-being. The integration of RIT into Ukraine’s mental health care framework could serve as a model for other conflict-affected regions, demonstrating significant sociopolitical benefits by promoting social cohesion, reducing economic burdens on healthcare systems, and aiding in the long-term reintegration of trauma survivors.
