Talk or Text: Generational Differences and Their Effect on Graduate Medical Education
Abstract
Abstract This resource provides materials needed to present an interactive and didactic workshop which outlines generational differences between groups in academic medical departments and discusses strategies to address issues that arise because of them. There are currently four generations of physicians working within academic medical departments. Each generation has its own attitudes and behaviors. An understanding of these differences is essential in maximizing graduate medical education (GME). This resource presents an overview of generational differences as well as some issues that have arisen in departments within our institution because of these differences. The workshop allows for discussion among GME/residency/department leaders in how these issues are being addressed as well as some thoughts about best practices.
