THE COMPARISON AND CONTRAST OF GERMAN LANGUAGE TEACHING AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN THE CONTEXT OF TURKEY AND SLOVENIA
Abstract
In the past different methods were used in teaching German as a foreign language but "student - centered" approach was not adopted too much. Over time, this situation has changed, and today different methods and approaches are used in foreign language courses. The aim of this study is to describe in what ways the German lesson carried out in Slovenia is different from the one in Turkey. For this, a lesson was taught to the students of German Language Department of Trakya University as it was taught in Slovenia. Students’ opinion, attitudes and perceptions were evaluated through surveys and interviews. At the end of the study, it was revealed that both countries have different teaching traditions. Especially group work technique is used less in Turkey than in Slovenia.
