ASSESSMENT AND FOOD CORRELATION BETWEEN BODY WEIGHT IN A GROUP OF STUDENTS FROM SPORTS HIGH SCHOOL IASSY

Diet is a major factor that contributes to the achievement of a normal growth and development of children and youth. It is even more important to young athletes who are looking for sports performance.Methods: The study was conducted on a group of 84 students from Sports High School from Iassy. They completed a food frequency questionnaire consumption . Processing the results was made taking into account the perception of their body weight. Results and Discussion : body weight is considered very good for 77.38 % youth , and too small situations in 10.71 % students. Morning food intake was recognized by 77.38 % students and the differences calculated according to body weight, was not statistically significant (p> 0.05, Gl -2, χ ² -0.319 ) . Increased consumption of sugar is said to 34.52% youth calculated differences being statistically significant at a p 0.05, Gl -2, χ ² 1,509 ) . Fruits are eaten at lunch ( 60.71 % ) or breakfast ( 66.66% ) and the differences were calculated in both cases statistically insignificant . Drinking milk at breakfast, is recognized by 55,95% of students surveyed. Eating food too salty, is recognized by 76.19% youth and the differences calculated according to body weight are statistically significant at p <0.05 (Gl-2, χ ² 8376). Conclusions: These studies are important for maintaining the health of students, especially those which make a great physical effort.
