Abstract

This text analyzes the central aspects of Brazilian foreign policy during the first six months of the Lula government. After identifying a series of continuities in the country's foreign policy, the principal initiatives of the Worker's Party that distinguish the Lula ad-ministration from its predecessor are highlighted. Finally, the author discusses the ways in which foreign policy has been used to satisfy domestic objectives.
