Sex and gender (s/g) must be considered in the field of OHS, since men and women do not hold the same jobs and are not exposed to the same work conditions and hazards. This article proposes a discussion on how to consider s/g in an ergonomics intervention, particularly at the stage of selecting work situations. Two examples from interventions carried out in France and Quebec are presented. The first example concerns the activity of occupational physicians in MSD prevention. The second presents the development and implementation of a tailored OHS training program. In both cases, these issues advocated by ergonomics researchers have changed the understanding of health construction paths at work or otherwise, so that injury prevention takes into account men’s and women’s conditions and characteristics.
