Engineering the arrangement of atomic arrays enables their cooperative interaction with optical photons even when individual atom separations are far beyond the light’s wavelength. Here, the authors report long-range cooperative resonances in an array of rare-earth ions implanted into a lithium niobate micro-ring resonator.
