De la différence de l’interprétation du meurtre du conjoint dans le système pénitentiaire canadien selon que le coupable est femme ou homme
Abstract
This article is about men and women who have killed an intimate partner. It recalls that these individuals who have been convicted are encouraged to acknowledge their guilt, regardless of the circumstances in which the homicide was committed. It shows that the explanation of the homicide which the guilty individual is encouraged to develop varies according to gender and that this difference lies in a grossly essentialist vision which requires that women discover themselves as victims and men as controlling. This result is based on a discourse analysis of the guilty party’s hearings before the Parole Board of Canada. The analysis identified word maps generated by the Alceste computer software and compared them according to gender.
