Corrosion rate is an important parameter to evaluate the corrosion degree of materials, especially for the safe and reliable use of materials.In order to predict the corrosion rate of materials by the modal analysis of corroded materials, according to the damage mechanics theory of material, the damage of material could be expressed as loss factor ω, which could be introduced into the process of material corrosion damage.When the material was under uniform corrosion, the functional relationship between materials corrosion damage factor ω with corrosion rate v and time t was analyzed.Additionally, for gaining the expression of corrosion damage factor, according to the theory of elastic material vibration, the relationship between corrosion damage factor ω and natural frequency ratio  of materials before and after corrosion was studied.On this basis, a uniform corrosion rate prediction model based on modal analysis was further built.The theoretical analysis and calculation showed that the model was feasible to predict the average corrosion rate of materials, and the prediction results had reference value for the evaluation of the corrosion degree of materials, which also provided a new prediction method for the prediction of corrosion rate.
