E-mail: [email protected] Aiming to report the ticks present in horses and dogs in the state of Santa Catarina, ticks were identified from the collection of the Laboratory of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases Center Agroveterinary Sciences (CAV), University of the State of Santa Catarina (UDESC) formed since 1999 and ticks collected in the period from 2008 to 2012 in 33 municipalities of the six mesoregions state. The ticks present in the collection were obtained from samples collected directly in the hosts and samples received at the laboratory. In dogs were identified species Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, R. sanguineus, Amblyomma aureolatum, A. ovale, A. tigrinum and A. cajennense; and in horses R. (B.) microplus, Anocentor nitens and A. cajennense. The species A. cajennense was first diagnosed in dogs and horses in the State.
