From an analysis to his writings and official documents, this article shows how Pope Francis questions theologians. It offers a double perspective: a retrospective one by analyzing how these questions were already present in the Fathers of the Church; and a prospective one by pointing out the contributions of these questions to the development of a theology of the human action that is related to the needs and challenges of the current contexts. This double movement contributes to unite a theology that must be inspired by the Word, as a basic base of the tradition, and the challenges of the present contexts. In other words, the continuous dialogue that should be present in any theology, a dialogue between the Tradition, expressed in the sense of the announcement of the Scripture, and the commitment demanded by the new historical contexts. With all this is possible to identify the coordinates used by the questions and the theological work of Pope Francis.
