Self-Esteem and Social Adaptation Development in Children
Abstract
Self-esteem is the self-evaluation each individual makes from the representations it has of itself and from the representations constructed by the others. The sense of personal worth appears in a process of identity construction. This is associated with the assessment that people make about the social adaptation of the child. The present study concerns the development of self-image and self-esteem of children in school age. The sample consisted of 180 children. The results demonstrated a difference in the responses of children in relation to age and gender. The boys were evaluated more positively than girls. There has been the same results in younger children compared to the older ones.
