By reviewing the literature that addressed the evolution of the working phenomenon, the study synthesizes the meanings and content of work over time. We have analysed the attitudes of four existing generations in the labour market – the Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y and Generation Z. After examining the similarities and differences in how generations value work, we have noticed differences in the attitudes towards work and its existential role.
