The article presents the basics of the method of correlation spatial-frequency filtering of maps of phase distributions of polyethylene films. Using the method of statistical analysis of the structure of spatial-frequency filtered polarization maps of polymer films, a set of methods and criteria for diagnosing changes in the birefringence of packaging materials has been substantiated and tested. A comparative analysis of a set of statistical moments that characterize the maps of polarization azimuths, as well as images of a large-scale (linear birefringence) grid of crystals, also revealed certain differences between them. The distribution histograms of polarization images of polyethylene polymer films from group 1 have a more asymmetric construction with a sharp kurtosis compared to the similar distribution of the indicated polarization image parameter of polymer films from group 2. The main features of the coating manifested themselves in a larger ordered structure of whiskers of films from group 1 and lower for group 2. Such a geometric design of the polycrystalline component manifests itself in the formation of the priority, most probable among all possible values of the polarization azimuth, the totality of which forms the main extremum. The method of polarization mapping of optically inhomogeneous polycrystalline lines of polymer films onto polyethylene with spatial-frequency filtering of the coordinate distributions of the laser vibration polarization azimuth on the Fourier plane is substantiated analytically. A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the methods of direct polarization mapping and spatial-frequency selection in the differentiation of the distributions of the azimuth and ellipticity of the polarization of laser radiation, which is transformed by grids of polymeric polyethylene films, is presented.
