This article discusses the similarities, differences and synergies between anthropology and tourism in Portuguese space. The aim is to analyze the touristification of anthropology in Portugal (the methodological and epistemological to the object of study by the discipline adaptations), and a certain anthropologization of tourism. Framed in the history of Portuguese anthropology, the paper starts with the analysis of the work of anthropologists who built a certain genealogy of anthropology of tourism in Portugal: birth, development, present and current directions pointing to a future with more attention to tourism. The findings point to a normalization of the anthropology of tourism in Portuguese academic context and also to greater anthropologization of the field of tourism studies in the levels of teaching and research.
