The aim of this study was to develop and validate a questionnaire for the assessment of declarative knowledge in volleyball. Due to interest in the cognitive skills study, differents tools to access knowledge players have developed (McPherson and Kernodle, 2007). The sample consisted of 489 subjects, aged between 13 and 16 years, with different experience levels and gender, which was accessed during the Spain Championship and various schools. The results showed appropriate values in tests of validity and reliability made, considering the elimination of one of the items of the questionnaire, so that the instrument was finally composed of 24 questions. We obtained Cronbach's alpha coefficients of .77 for internal consistency and reliability of .76 for the temporal reliability. The regression analysis determined that experience predicted the declarative knowledge, not age. Future researchs to develop new tools are essential to the analysis of cognitive variables involved in sports activities. Key Words: declarative knowledge, validity, reliability, volleyball
