The goal of the research. The article aims to comparative analysis of statements about the emotional world in the Lives of Saints Sava the Sanctified and Theodosius of Pechersk. Methodology. The research uses methods of analysis, synthesis and generalization, classification and systematization, induction and deduction, textological, historical-comparative, historical-genetic, terminological analysis, content analysis and interpretive. Scientific novelty. The peculiarities of presentation of emotions in both texts are considered and generalized. The idea of the degree of influence of the Life of Saint Sava the Sanctified on the Life of Saint Theodosius of Pechersk has been further developed. Conclusions. A comparison of state ments about the emotional sphere in two hagiographic works of the Eastern European Middle Ages revealed a certain connection between them. The emotional palette turned out to be the same - the general arsenal of mentioned emotions. Many circumstances of the manifestation of emotions in both texts are also similar in their general features. The most indicative of the influence are almost verbatim quotations in Russian life, the source of which can be found in Byzantine. But the fact that a significant part of the circumstances of emotions occurs only in the Life of Saint Sava the Sanctified or only in the Life of Saint Theodosius, and also the fact that almost the majority of specific situations of the manifestation of emotions in both texts are completely different from each other, indicates, in our opinion, that the Saint Nestor was independent in the story about the holy abbot of his native monastery. Yes, he uses sources, but the degree of this influence is not so significant. In addition, the inclusion of quotations could be intended to draw a parallel between two saints of different times and regions, in whose lives the author found similar moments. And it was important for him to emphasize this similarity with the help of a literary form. It is important that the total number of mentions of the emotional sphere in the original life significantly outweighs the statement of the translated work, which may indicate, in our opinion, greater attention of the Pechersk community to the emotional world and greater emotionality of a person in the Ukrainian Middle Ages.
