Feminism is the principle by which society recognizes a woman as a living being and encourages her to be given the same rights and freedoms as men. Women are the fundamental cause of the origin of the human race and its various functions in society. Their role from birth to death is significant. From ancient times the women have said a lot about women who are a part of men’s lives. However, the primary objective of feminism is to achieve the level of equality for men and women in the economy where women have the freedom they need, the ability to act on their own, the ability to break the barriers of slavery built by society. Therefore, this research paper is titled “Moderate Feminism in the Short Stories of Puthumaipittan” and explores the primary purposes of feminism through the short stories based on chastity, slavery, lust and dowry.
