Tendencies and directions of development of food industry of Republic of Srpska
Abstract
The research topic is the analysis of the food industry in the Republic of Srpska. The analysis included the sectors of milk and meat processing, grain processing, fruit and vegetables, production of wine, spirits and soft drinks in the period from 2007 to 2012 year. The research in this paper aims to point out some problems that exist because there is a high degree of unused capacity, obsolete technology, inadequate investment in production capacity, and the lack of domestic raw materials which makes producers in the RS dependent on imported raw materials. Based on the results of the research can be defined follows directions for the development of the industry: production and boosting economic efficiency and changing production structure in accordance with the requirements of domestic and international markets, the application of international standards and technologies and production of high-quality and competitive products; production of healthy food and create brands based on traditional production and geographical origin of the product.The research is based on the available data, with applied method "research desk" ("desk research").
