Modern data on an urgent clinical problem — antibiotic-associated diarrhea — are summarized in the article. In development of antibiotic-associated diarrhea the main role is played by disturbances in microbiocenosis and immune response of the organism. Along with usage of metronidazole and vancomycin probiotics have great importance in treatment of these conditions. Probiotics also play a certain part in prevention of relapses and prophylaxis of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Complex approach to verification of antibioticassociated diarrhea and management of patients allows significant decreasing of prevalence and severity of possible complications.
