Collaborating in the Public’s Domain

Abstract

Since the 1980s conservators have found innovative ways to use the Internet to collaboratively create and share information around cultural property. The rise of “Web 2.0,” the advent of social media applications, and other technological advancements allow conservators to form broader collaborative networks. Now conservators have the opportunity to harness the power of these technological advancements and begin building new ways to create and share more information on an institutional and personal level; at the same time conservators can directly engage the visitor in the creation of this information.
