Costruire la pace tra violenze, illegalità e diseguaglianze: la sfida del municipio indigeno di Cherán, Messico
Abstract
Actually, Mexico is confronting a generalized violence linked to conflicts among drug cartels, the state and extractive companies for the control of territory and of legal and illegal sectors of the economy. In 2011 the inhabitants of Cherán, an indigenous municipality of Michoacán, Mexico, matched the criminal group responsible for kidnapping, extortion and illegal felling of the wood in the communal territory. Crossing contributions from anthropology and Peace Research, the paper describes the conflict and the community responses to violence through the process of peace formation.
