Abstract

A educação deve ser também um espaço de cidadania e de respeito aos direitos humanos, o que tem levado o currículo a discutir o tema da inclusão de grupos minoritários. Entre estes grupos estão os grupos de gênero representados por feministas, gays e lésbicas. No Brasil, há muitos estudos sobre a exclusão de mulheres, porém poucos estudos educacionais acerca do tema da diversidade sexual. Essa ausência na educação, provavelmente, tem como causa a predominância de proposições essencialistas e excludentes nos conceitos utilizados para pensar identidades sexuais e de gênero. Algumas formas de resistência apontadas por este artigo são: incluir os estudos de gênero nos cursos de formação docente, a análise crítica de representações sexuais e de gênero produzidas pela mídia e a experimentação de novas formas de linguagem que possam desconstruir estruturas identitárias binárias e excludentes, como homem-mulher e heterossexual-homossexual, produzidas pelo discurso educacional.Among other things, education must be a space of citizenship and respect for human rights, which has been leading to curricular discussions on the inclusion of minority groups. Among these groups are the gender groups represented by feminists, gays and lesbians. In Brazil, there are a lot of studies about women's exclusion, but few educational studies about sexual diversity. This educational gap is probably caused by predominant and excluding essentialist propositions in the concepts used to think about gender and sexual identities. Some forms of resistance pointed out by this article are the possibility of including gender studies in teacher education courses, the critical analysis of gender and sexual representations produced by the media and the experimentation of new forms of language that could deconstruct binary and excluding identity structures like the man-woman and the heterosexual-homosexual structures, produced by educational discourse.
