Factors influencing entrepreneurial intentions of students of Kien Giang University
Abstract
The research was performed with the aim of finding out the factors affecting the entrepreneurial intention of students at Kien Giang University. On that basis, some managerial implications are proposed to improve the entrepreneurial intention of students while still in school. The study approached and used Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and linear structural model (SEM) to identify and measure the factors affecting the intention. Student entrepreneurship through the intermediary variable of Passion. The results of the SEM show that there are 03 factors influencing Passion: Attitude and personality, Opinions of people around, and the Startup environment. Passion also has a significant influence on the dependent variable with the level of impact being 48.1%. The proposed policy implications are (1) promoting entrepreneurship through encouragement from relatives and friends; (2) building a start-up environment and space; (3) promoting students’ personality traits; (4) enhancing the role of the school’s connection with businesses and the Youth Union; (5) the school needs to develop a policy to train source teachers in the field of entrepreneurship, as well as a welfare policy for instructors.
