Histoire comparée des Guyanes (XVe-XXIe siècles) : Construction d'une historiographie propre à l'espace guyanais

Abstract

A history and / or a comparative anthropology of the Guyanas cannot be an easy intellectual, epistemological, methodological, heuristic and historiographical experience, given the geographic, physical, human and socio-political complexity of the region. The telling of its past will face the same issues. This is due to its multiple temporalities that intersect between on the one hand, the political projects of the respective colonial metropolises; on the other hand, with the unique history of each colony and the relationships between them. The Guyanas appear as spaces of "borders": natural borders, geopolitical borders, socio-political borders, ethnic borders, racial borders, linguistic borders, cultural borders. Therefore, undertaking a comparative historical study will invite us to juggle these different scales.
