Personality factors affecting employee’s innovation capability in some enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
This research focuseson identifying and measuring key personality factors affecting the capability to create and implement innovative ideas as well as to unlock creative motivation of employees working in enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. This research was conducted using quantitative approach combined with qualitative techniques. The research models are based on personality traittheory, control-oriented modelling and the theory of individual creative motivation. The results show that: (a) features of Conscientiousness, Extraversion and Openness to Experience, Introversion Control Orientation have positive impacts on the capability to create and implement innovative ideas and to unlock creative motivation; and (b) features of Agreeableness and Extraversion Control Orientation have no relationships with the capability to create and implement innovative ideas and to unlock creative motivation. The research results serves as a reference for Vietnamese businesses to establish their recruitment policies and develop their human resources suitable to individual creativity and organizational sustainable development orientation in the context of global competition
