All the curious readers of the Cervantes work have perceived in a special way that the author incorporated in his novel a large amount of material belonging to the popular proverb. For the present work those who, within the corpus on the animals, have as main protagonist the donkey were selected. The donkey, appears permanently associated with the figure of its owner, Sancho Panza. Taking as starting point some key episodes such as the theft of the rucio or "the adventure of braying", we will analyse the presence of a large number of examples gathered in the second part of Don Quixote, taking into account the context of insertion in which they appear and the semantic field generated around it, closely linked to the writing process.
