La colonisation et la guerre d’Algérie : un passé encore présent
Abstract
Major episodes in the four centuries of French colonial history, the 132 years of Algerian colonization and, in particular, the “gangrene” represented by the Algerian War—to use the term coined by Benjamin Stora in 1991—continue to weigh on our present. These episodes in our history are both invisible and omnipresent. They are the “elephant in the room” that nobody sees. And yet, in our analyses of today's France, reflection on their present-day traces must occupy an important place.
