SHORT FORM EPIC (ANECDOTE, PARABLE) IN THE POSTMODERN WORK "RED KNIGHT. THE STORY OF PARSIFAL" BY ADOLF MUSCHG Literature as a means of communication and learning has a large number of directions and scientific theories regarding the issue of the classification of works by genre. Literary critics of different eras and schools attributed great significance to the delineation of short epic forms in the genre system and developed a number of theories on the subject. The article deals with the genre features of short form epic: the anecdote, the parable of the bible and the parable; it examines the purpose of their use in the novel "Red Knight. The Story of Parzival" by Adolf Muschg. Keywords: short form epic, postmodernism, German and Swiss literature.
