Laboratory studies of the degradation of chlorpyrifos pesticide in soils supplemented by the fungus phanerochaete chrysosporium
Abstract
Degradation of the insecticide chlorpyrifos was investigated in sterilized soil samples supplemented by the white rot basidiomycete Phanerochaete chrysosporium. Degradation rates were measured during 21-day incubation at pesticide concentrations of 0,95, 5,3, and 9,4 µg/g. Phanerochaete chrysosporium showed ability to biodegrade the insecticide in values of 96,3%, 82,4% and 62,2%, respectively, followed by rapid degradation at low initial concentration of chlorpyrifos.
