A descriptive observational study of the patients who underwent cataract surgery with anterior chamber intraocular lens implant during the period from October 2005 to June 2006 was carried out at the Arnaldo Milián Castro Provincial University Hospital in Villa Clara. The cases operated with lens implants in the anterior chamber were taken as an (occasional) sample: a total of 32 eyes in 32 patients. The epidemiological aspects and post-surgery complications were taken into consideration, as well as the visual acuity before surgery, the three months after surgery and with optical correction. Most of the patients were over 60 years of age. The most common etiology was senile cataract. A normal visual acuity was achieved in most of the patients, being uveitis the most common complication. It is recommended to continue the study of these patients to observe changes over time.
