Sulphurization of cordierite, Minas da Panasqueira, Portugal
Abstract
Iron-magnesium cordierite in the metasomatized contact hornfelses of the mineralized Panasqueira granite has been converted to the assemblage: Mg-cordierite, andalusite, quartz, magnetite, and pyrite and/or arsenopyrite. This reaction is considered to demonstrate the geological feasibility of Kullerud and Yoder's (1964) experimental sulphurization of cordierite.
