Diaspora and return. The Dorothy in the portuguese world
Abstract
After the establishment of the Portuguese Republic, the Dorothean Sisters , as other religious congregations, were forced into exile. However, the Portuguese Province wouldn't be extinguished. First, by the strong hand of Sister Alves, then leader, they took the message of Paula Frassinetti the several countries of Europe and to the United States, while also establishing themselves in Spain. Afterwards, requested for all the Dioceses, through the insistence of the respective Bishops, they would make their way back to Portugal. And they didn't just remain in the mainland, as they accepted the challenge of the Ultramar, setting out as missionaries, first to Angola and later to Mozambique. It's the adventure of these extraordinary women, testified by the imprint they left wherever their work took them, that I will attempt to address. Keywords: republic, dispersal, dorothy, schools, africa
