Nouvelles données sur une cité africo-romaine d’Afrique proconsulaire : Mizaeotherena – Bou Jlida (Tunisie)
Abstract
This paper presents the results of survey missions carried out in recent years at the village of Bou Jlida. New epigraphic and archaeological documentation has been gathered to provide a better understanding of the limits of the ancient site and the distribution of the necropolises around the urban centre. The new epitaphs have substantially enriched the local onomastic repertoire, which will allow the question of the Romanisation of the population to be approached on a more solid basis. Systematic survey of the as yet undeveloped areas to the east and west of the village has also yielded a diverse ceramic assemblage that provides new insights on the chronology of the site.
