Kosovo myth in the poetry of Đura Jakšić
Abstract
The author of this paper starts from the general overview on the importance and function of myth and its position in our time, and including the position and importance of Kosovo myth in the light of the cultural and national identity of Serbs as well. The subject of further analysis is the poetry of Đura Jakšić in which the presence of Kosovo myth and motives are noticed and emphasized. A special attention is paid to the analysis of the unavoidable poetic symbol of Đura Jakšić, eagle, and the motive of the night, names or traditional ritual procedures of the hair cut after the deceased one in the context of Jakšić's poetry.
