In this Paper we will look at different views about el Buen Vivir (Sumak Kawsay) or Vivir Bien (Suma Qamaña),wich is a proposal made by the Ecuador and Bolivia´s indigenous leaders, and it has been picked up by other ethnic groups and several latin american and european intellectuals. El buen vivir comes from the depths of the indigenous cultures and it can only be understanded from an intercultural view, since the leaders themselves pick up in their problems, elements that are being debated now in the occidental world, while the non-indigenous intellectuals and activists are beggining to recover the proposals made by the indigenous themselves and add other elements to think about.
