(Series Information) European Papers - A Journal on Law and Integration, 2021 6(3), 1523-1525 | Editorial | (Abstract) For the very first time, on the 28 February 2022 the European Union decided to supply lethal military equipment to a belligerent State, namely Ukraine, who is facing a Russian aggression. From the international point of view, this decision may change the EU role in the international arena. It may be qualified as an action of collective self-defence. At the same time, the action of the EU can be regarded as the implementation of the obligation, binding upon States and international organisations, to cooperate to bring to an end through lawful means a violation of a peremptory norm, such as the prohibition of the use of force.
