Modern and profitable industry today is inconceivable without timely and rapid implementation of quality and efficient process tools, as well as complementary and adequate work and development strategies, with a strong reliance on information technologies. However, due to the faster approach to the global market and their participation in it, developing countries completely uncritically adopt the so-called "universal" laws and rules of work and business, which are incompatible with many technical-technological, economic, social, cultural, national and other features of the countries that adopt them, and therefore not effective. Generating new work and development strategies implies their consistency with the mission, vision and goals, but also compliance with opportunities. This ultimately implies providing a quality product and long-term competitive advantage and survival of the company, where the key prerequisite for their adoption and effective implementation are activist approach, unconditional state support and general national consensus. The paper presents some of the most important elements and parameters, but also the problems of work and development of textile and clothing industry of developing countries (Serbia), as theses, necessary in generating quality, efficient and sustainable concepts and strategies of work and development.
