The article highlights, in the Brazilian audiovisual productions Marighella (Wagner Moura, 2019) and Doutor Gama (Jeferson De, 2021), elements of representation of the black protagonist, in the context of the national anti-racist education project, in compliance with law 10639 of 09/01/ 2003 for public education in Brazil and extended to the cultural industry (BRASIL, 2003). Considering the applicability of the law in the context of cinematographic production, the narrative structure of each work highlights indices of formal and thematic choices that, on the one hand, follow classic patterns in the configuration of characters (Rosa et al, 2013) and, on the other, they seek new points of view for reporting historical facts. In this sense, decolonial and anti-racist perspectives, highlighted by bell hooks (2019) and Moreira (2020) are revisited, as a conceptual and terminological contribution. As a result, the narrativization of a historical past crossed by sociopolitical demands of the present is evident, which in the case of the anti-racist agenda, gives rise to semantic contradictions or the reiteration of stereotypes. Finally, elements of film analysis that are potentially applicable to similar productions, in their structures and intentions, are highlighted in the works.
