Several teachers do not feel comfortable or do not believe to have enough time to develop alternative education methodologies. Thus, it is required implementing training actions which aim to offer opportunities of dealing with unusual approaches for teaching. This research is within the scope of this situation. Authors have developed a learning object based on the historical tool known as Sieve of Eratosthenes. They also aimed to include the History of Mathematics as a teaching methodology. Later, this learning object was applied in a class of college students and teachers from the basic education in the State of Paraná - Brazil during an extension course in a public university in the north of the state. The main objective was to analyze the usage of the digital interactive whiteboard in basic education. The course students could create their own learning objects and apply them by using the digital interactive whiteboard. Besides it, they dealt with the learning object which was developed by the authors of this research. In the end, curse students answered a form and their answers were analyzed and discussed. Authors concluded it is important that teachers keep themselves updated by attending to continuing education courses. They must search support for developing activities which use this new technologies. Authors also concluded teachers are able to develop a learning object and introduce it to the class.
