The Investigation of the Relationship between Tinnitus and Depression

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between tinnitus and depression. The sample of the study consisted of randomly selected individuals aged between 18 and 60 years who were admitted to public hospitals in İstanbul. Depression level of the participants was measured by the Beck Depression Scale, and the level of tinnitus was measured by the Tinnitus Rating Index. The findings were analyzed according to Chi-Square, Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation Coefficient and ANOVA. According to the results obtained in the research; there was a moderate correlation between tinnitus and depression. According to t-test results, the rate of tinnitus is higher in individuals with depression. According to the results of ANOVA, no significant difference was observed in tinnitus variable according to the demographic characteristics of the participants.
