Archive of infantry general Alexander Ilyich Khatov in the funds of the Penza State Museum of Local Lore

Abstract

Background. In recent years, national history has shown an increased interest in the study of the Patriotic War of 1812. One of the issues facing researchers is the introduction of new, previously unknown, sources into scientific circulation. The purpose of this research is to introduce into scientific circulation previously unknown to researchers archive of infantry general A.I. Khatov, stored in the funds of the Penza State Museum of Local Lore. Materials and methods. The implementation of research tasks was achieved through the dialectical method of studying historical processes, including the principles of historicism, objectivity and systematicity. This methods helped to comprehensively characterize the historical source. Results. The complex of documents of the archive of infantry general A.I. Khatov, stored in the funds of the Penza State Museum of Local Lore, is analyzed. Conclusions. The set of documents contained in the archive of infantry general A.I. Khatov affects various aspects of his military service. Thematically, they can be divided into several groups: award documents, documents on the appointment of A.I. Khatov to various positions, documents on the performance of various official assignments. The document analysis allowed not only to characterize the milestones of the career of famous military surveyor and cartographer, but also to present the activities of His Imperial Majesty’s Suite in the quartermaster unit in the first third of the XIX century, where he spent most of his service.
